Abstract
Felt report for the December 16, 1811 earthquake from Norfolk, Virginia. Good detailed brief report. Time of earthquake was “about 3 o’clock) am local time then one shortly thereafter. Effect was to cause the witness to leave his house. Another effect was the shifting of a pipe(barrel) of wine in a warehouse.

Extract of a letter from Norfolk, to gentleman in Richmond, dated 15th Dec. "About 3 o'clock this morning I was awakened by a severe shock of an earthquake, and a little after 3 there was another, which shook my house in such a manner as to induce me to run out of it, apprehending it would fall. Last night a pipe of wine in Mr. Maitland's store was raised of the skids-at 11 there was another slight shock."
