Abstract

Report from Cincinnati, Ohio on boat losses near New Madrid. “Information from below still continues to bring us fresh tidings of disasters experienced on the Ohio and Mississippi in consequence of the late Earthquakes -Mr. Carter from this place, writes, that his boat was sunk on the 23d Feb by great exertions part of his cargo was saved, no lives were lost, another boat and cargo from this place were entirely lost by the sinking of an Island and that is was reported many other boats had been lost. “

Cincinnati, March 21, 1812. Information from below still continues to bring us fresh tidings of disasters experienced on the Ohio and Mississippi in consequences of the late Earthquakes-Mr. Carter from this place, writes, that his boat was sunk on the 23d Feb-by great exertions part of his cargo was saved, no lives were lost -another boat and cargo from this place were entirely lost, by the sinking of an Island-and that it was reported many other boats had been lost, and many persons perished.
