Abstract
Short report noting boats lost on the Mississippi river a the time of the New Madrid earthquakes. A Mr. Carter lost a boat on the 23 of February(probably January) and notes many boats and people were lost.
Transcript
Information from below still continues to bring us fresh tidings of disasters experienced on the Ohio and Mississippi in consequence of the late earthquakes-Mr. Carter from this place, writes, that his boat was sunk on the 23d Feb-by great exertions part of his cargo was saved, no lives were lost-another boat and cargo from this place was entirely lost, by the sinking of an Island-and that it was reported many other boats had been lost, and many persons perished.
