Abstract
Felt report from Norfolk, Virginia that the December 16, 1811 earthquake was felt there. Damage noted were stopped clocks, shaken houses, and also a pipe(barrel) of wine thrown off of its skids on commerce street. Notes shocks were felt at Richmond. Virginia at same time but lighter.
Transcript
On the morning of the 16th ult. two distinct and severe shocks of an Earthquake, were felt at Norfolk, Virginia. The houses were much shaken, and several clocks stopped. The second shock, threw a pipe of wine off the skids in Commerce street. A shock, less violent, was felt at Richmond same time.
