Abstract
Report that the steam boat New Orleans had arrived at New Orleans. Gives a description of the boat and its voyage
Transcript
The steam-boat called the New-Orleans, arrived from Pittsburgh on Friday last. The captain says that she was only 259 hours from Pittsburgh to this state, which is at the rate of about 8 miles an hour. This steam-boat was built at Pittsburgh for the Ohio Company, to which Messrs. Livingston & Fulton of New York ceded a part of their privilege. [unreadable] appears to us as long as a frigate about 495 tons, and intended as a regular trader from this to Natchez. We are assured that she can go at the [unreadable] of five knots an hour against the current, which promises the most [unreadable] results to this valuable and useful discovery.
