Transcript
Yesterday morning about 45 minutes past 8 o'clock, we felt a trembling in this city marked by undulations which lasted more than a minute, and which several persons have generally considered as produced by an earthquake. We have been told that arms suspended at the walls have described oscillatory movements from the west to the east, which would indicate the direction of those undulations. Some persons have observed an inclination of about three degrees in the level of water contained in vessels, some others have been struck with a swimming in the head.
