Abstract
Generalized felt report for the December 16, 1811 earthquake. Notes that it was felt ‘very generally” to the west and south. Notes is some places it was felt “alarmingly’ and accompanied “with a noise resembling that of a carriage driving over a stone pavement” Places noted to have felt it were Alexandria, Richmond, Petersburg, Norfolk, Raleigh, Pittsburgh, Chillicothe, Marietta, Charleston, Clarksburg and Knoxville.

The Earthquake felt in this place on the 16th December last, appears to have been very general to the Southward and Westward-every day's mail brings some further account of it. It has been felt at Alexandria, Richmond, Petersburg, Norfolk, Raleigh, Pittsburg, Chillicothe, Mariette, Charleston, Clarksburg and Knoxville. In some of those places the shocks were highly alarming and accompanied with a noise resembling that of a carriage driving over a stone pavement.
