Corporate venture capital and new product development: The moderating role of firm capabilities and product market competition

Abstract

Corporate venture capital (CVC) has experienced momentous growth in recent years attributing to the digital era. Organizations are unlocking the benefits of pursuing corporate venture capital to complement their innovation strategies. Previous literature has shown that corporate venture capital leads to innovation for incumbent companies. However, the factors that affect the relationship between CVC and innovation is understudied. This research in progress attempts to understand the impact of organizational capabilities and product market competition on the relationship between CVC investment and new product development.
