Welcome to the UofM Graduate School newsletter, Ascende Altius!
Named after the Latin phrase meaning “Climb Higher,” Ascende Altius embodies the spirit of the University of Memphis’s new strategic plan, Ascend. In this edition, Vice Provost and Dean of the Graduate School, Dr. Deborah Tollefsen, shares the inspiration behind the newsletter and reaffirms the Graduate School’s dedication to academic excellence and innovation.
This issue spotlights the remarkable journeys of students and alumni who have answered the call to pursue greater heights in their academic and professional paths. It also highlights the impactful work of our faculty—exceptional researchers, educators, and mentors—whose influence extends across campus and into the wider community.
