Description

The Kress building is easily recognizable by its colorful and decorative terracotta facade. Kress opened the five-and-dime store, of what was to become a nationwide chain, in Memphis, Tennessee, in 1896 and moved to the Main Street location in 1927. Photograph by Roy Brewer, 1990-1991.
