Abstract
Felt report for the December 16, 1811 earthquake from Knoxville, Tennessee. Time of the earthquake was “about 2 o’clock” Duration was “three to five minutes” Effect was to rattle furniture and window glass and wake every family in town. A second shock was felt 30 minutes later with a duration of one minute. Three more were felt before sunrise of a few seconds duration each. No damage was noted. Flashes of light were seen in the North during the first shock.
