Abstract
Felt report for the January 23, 1812 earthquake from Richmond, Virginia. Time of the earthquake was 9:30 am (local time) Effect was noted that “Like the last it was more sensibly felt on Shockoe and Richmond Hills than in the lower parts of the city. In some instances books were nearly thrown therein from the shelves-and numbers who were at breakfast at that time, precipitately left the tables.

ANOTHER EARTHQUAKE About half after 9 o'clock this morning, a severe shock of an EARTHQUAKE was felt in this City. Like the last, it was more sensibly felt on the Shockoe and Richmond Hills than in the lower parts of the city. In some instances books were nearly thrown therein from the shelves-and numbers who were at breakfast at the time, precipitately left the tables.
