From the American Daily Advertiser. MR. POULSON, As it may be gratifying to some of your readers, I send you for publication the annexed extract of a letter from Dr. Montgomery, of Frankfort, (K.) dated January 29, 1812. Yours, &c. A. F. "On Thursday last we experienced in this place, a very considerable shock of Eearthquake-and since that time have felt several slighter ones. "On Sunday and Monday last large quantities of a substance, which if not pumice stone, possessed many similar qualities, and evidently the products of Volcanic Fires, were picked up from the Kentucky river, opposite to this town. It is extremely light, has not suffered any alteration by any degree of heat we have been able to apply, and will not retain heat a all. I will forward a specimen to Peale's Museum, by the first opportunity."
