Abstract
Felt report for the January 23, 1812 earthquake from the Richmond Enquirer. Time of earthquake was about 9:00 am( local time. Effect was to stagger walking people, sway keys, flap doors and windows, violent ripples formed on tea and coffee, tall furniture swayed, it was felt on the hill and in high houses more than low houses. Two shocks were felt at 20 minute intervals.
