Abstract
Brief report that west bank of Mississippi river damaged by earthquakes to the point to make them impassable.
Transcript
The ravages of the Earthquake on the west bank of the Mississippi are deserted as having been very destructive, completely impeding all traveling in some places. The bill for admitting all British [unreadable], belonging to American citizens, or [unreadable] contracted for previous to the signing of the President's proclamation of November 3, 1810, was under consideration of the House of Representatives yesterday and the day before, and is now adjourned to Monday week. A motion postpone the subject indefinitely, was gained by a majority of ten votes. If due, however, to our mercantile friends, [unreadable] others interested, that this vote is by [unreadable] means decisive in favour of the bill; [unreadable] to caution them against being 100 [unreadable] in the expectations of [unreadable] founded on that vote. Should no [unreadable] take place in the present state of [unreadable], we believe its passage will be firmly contested, and perhaps ultimately defeated in one of the other House or Congress. Ingelligence.
