Transcript
Nashville, January 11. Accounts are brought in from the nation that several hunting Indians who were lately on the Missouri have returned, and state that the earthquake, was felt very sensibly there, that it shook down trees and many rocks of the mountains, and that every thing bore the appearance of an immediate dissolution of the world! We give this as we get it-it may be correct, but the probability is it is not. A letter to the editor from a friend at Dover, Stewart county, states the same particulars of the earthquake as felt here, and concludes by observing "that a small piece of ground on Well's creek in this country, has sunk so as to form a sink hole-the place is but about 20 or 30 feet square, but by the time the report reaches you it will be magnified to as many acres at least.
