Transcript
It is said that the earthquakes which have been recently felt in this country have originated in the mountains between N. Carolina & Tennessee, by the bursting and volcanic eruptions of the Alegany, and irreparable damage has been done in that neighborhood by the shocks so often repeated. The flashing of fire from every part of the mountains and the extreme agitation of the earth, shaking down every building fence, &c. occasioned a scene of horror not to be described.
