Abstract
Notice that the comet of 1811-1812 remains visible. From the Salem Gazette(possibly Massachusetts)

THE COMET continues visible. It has passed the equator, and was on Wednesday evening last in about 1 1-2 degrees of south declination, and in 312 degrees of Right Ascension. It is easily perceived by the naked eye, a little after 6 o'clock in the evening, bearing about W. by S. and 10 or 12 degrees above the horizon. Its distance from the earth is about 290 millions of miles.--Salem Gaz.
