    It would seem that the shock of an earthquake may be almost co-extensive with the globe. In the year 1761, on the 31st day of March, a shock was felt in Scotland, in Ireland, in Holland, in Portugal and Spain, in Macedonia, in South Barbary, at Barbadoes , and in the Madelras.
