Abstract
Brief account stating that the New Madrid earthquake had been felt everywhere on the continent. Accounts from the southwest were to be disbelieved only “on account of the horrible effects described.”

We find that the late shocks of Earthquakes have been felt every where on the continent. From the Southwest, most dreadful accounts have been received, and from such respectable sources, as to be disbelieved only on account of the horrible effects described.
