Brief report of the effect of the January 23, 1812 earthquake at Lexington, Kentucky. Shocks noted at 8:40 in the morning and 11:00 in the evening. Shocks were felt throughout the day. The main shocks “were of sufficient violence to be felt very generally by the inhabitants

EARTHQUAKE. Two shocks of an EARTHQUAKE were very sensibly felt in this place, on Thursday last-many more are said to have been noticed, in the course of that day; but the shock about 40 minutes after 8 o'clock in the morning, and another about 11 o'clock at night, were of sufficient violence to be felt very generally by the inhabitants.
