Abstract
Damage report from Charleston, South Carolina, January 23, 1812 earthquake. Clarification of a damage report printed the previous day about damage to a house in Charleston, due to the January 23, 1812 earthquake. “We stated yesterday, from information we received, that the House in King-street, occupied by Mr. J. C. Martindale, was materially injured by the Earthquake of yesterday morning: we are happy to learn to-day from Mr. Martindale himself the house is by no means injured as was expected; on the contrary, upon further examination, it is found to be but very little affected, and not at all so as to impair its strength or durability,”
