Abstract
Felt report from the Georgetown Gazette, (South Carolina). Extensive in scope. Time of quake was “about 4 o’clock.” Inhabitants were awakened. Beds shook, windows clattered and houses creaked. Ground assumed an “vibratory or undulating motion.” Impossible for people to keep their feet. Many experienced motion sickness. Night before a light in the west was seen resembling the tail of a comet. Similar light was seen on December 16, 1811. Felt report for the February 7, 1812 earthquake.
