Abstract
Felt report on the February 7, 1812 earthquake at Columbia, South Carolina. “Earthquakes have become almost familiar here; we had a shock this evening-that on Friday morning did some slight injury. Our young men have generally taken sleeping rooms out of College; those who remain, keep watch alternately, which I think a prudent precaution. I imagine we shall learn that the whole continent has been agitated; at least all of North America”

EXTRACT A LETTER From one of the Professors of Columbia College, to his friend in this City. "Columbia, S. C. February, 11. Earthquakes have become almost familiar here; we had a shock this evening-that on Friday morning did some slight injury. Our young men have generally taken sleeping rooms out of College; and those who remain, keep watch alternately, which I think a prudent precaution. I imagine we shall learn that the whole Continent has been agitated; at least all North-America."
