Abstract
Report on the eruption of Vesuvius.

Naples, June 15. Vesuvius, which had been quiet for several years, had suddenly broken out. At nine o'clock on the morning of the 12th, Loud reports proceeded from the bosom of the mountain, which was followed by an eruption of cinders and smoke.-After this the mountain remained quiet for about an hour. A eleven o'clock two fresh reports were head, when the crater vomited forth fire and smoke, which completely covered the horizon. On the 18 h and 14 h. the mountain was calm, but at the instant we are writing the volcano is again in action, and its center is covered with an immense column of smoke.--Journal de l' Empire, of June 26.
