Abstract
Legal notice that William Leigh Pierce is selling land owned by his father in Ohio. Possibly the same William Leigh Pierce who was one of the New Madrid eyewitnesses.

Notice is hereby given, THAT William L. Pierce, the legal heir and representative of William Pierce deceased, by his agent James Taylor, hath deposited with the treasurer of the state of Ohio, the full amount of the redemption money for the following described tracts of land, viz. For 279 acres being apart of a tract of 1000 acres, entered in the name of the said William Pierce, deceased, lying on the waters of Paint creek, Fayette county, and in his name sold to Reuben Abrams for the tax and penalty for the years 1800 and 1801; also for 200 acres, part of a tract of 1000 acres, entered in the name of said William Pierce, deceased, lying on the waters of the Little Miami, Highland county, and in his name sold to William Martin, for the tax and penalty forth - years 1800 & 1801; also for 190 acres part of a tract of 810 acres, entered in the name of the said William Pierce, deceased, lying on the waters of the little Miami, Green county, and in his name sold to Samuel M'Knight, for the tax and penalty for the years 1800 and 1801; also for 100 acres, part of a tract of 370 acres, entered in the name of the said William Pierce, lying on the waters of the Little Miami, Green county, and in his name sold to Reuben Abrams for the tax and penalty for the years 1800 and 1801; also for 90 acres, part of a tract of 370 acres, lying on the waters of the Little Miami, Green county, entered in the name of the said William Pierce, deceased, and in his name sold to John Barnes for the tax and penalty for the years 1800 and 1801; also for 40 acres, part of a tract of 116 acres, entered in the name of the said William Pierce, deceased, lying on the waters of the East Fork of White Oak, Highland county, and in his name sold to Samuel M'Knight, for the tax and penalty for the years 1800 and 1801; also for 90 acres, part of a tract of 800 acres, the original quantity being 1000 acres, No. 604, lying on the waters of Paint creek, Fayette county, entered in the name of the said William Pierce, deceased, and in his name sold to Hugh M'Cullum, for the tax and penalty for the year 1802; also for 70 acres, part of a tract at 620 2-3 acres, the original quantity being 1000 acres, No. 711, lying on the waters of the Little Miami, Highland county, entered in the name of the said William Pierce, deceased, and in his name sold to Daniel Riddle, for the tax and penalty for the year 1802; also for 49 acres, part of a tract of 370 acres, No 816, lying on the waters of the Little Miami, Green county, entered in the name of the said William Pierce, deceased, and in his name sold to Stephen Wheeler, for the tax and penalty for the year 1802; also for 45 acres, being part of a tract of 370 acres, No. 816, lying on the waters of the Little Miami, Green county, entered in the name of the said William Pierce, deceased, and in his name sold to David Riddle, for the tax and penalty for the year 1802; also 24 acres, being part of a tract of 76 acres, the original quantity 116 acres, No. 3634, lying on the waters of the East Fork of White Oak, Highland county, entered in the name of the said William Pierce, deceased, and in his name sold to David Riddle, for the tax and penalty for the year 1802; also, for 721 acres, being the whole quantity charged for taxation, the original quantity 1000 acres, No. 604, lying on the waters of Paint creek, Fayette county, entered in the name of the said William Pierce, deceased, and in his name sold to Nathaniel Willis, for the tax and penalty for the year 1803; also 350 acres, part of a tract of 620 2-3 acres, the original quantity being 810 acres, No. 816, lying on the waters of the Little Miami, Green county, entered in the name of the said William Pierce, deceased, and in his name sold to Abner Rude, for the tax and penalty for the year 1803; also for 99 acres, part of a tract of 531 acres, the original quantity being 1000 acres, No. 604, lying on the waters of Paint creek, Fayette county, entered in the name of the said William Pierce, deceased, and in his name sold to William Renix, for the tax and penalty for the year 1804; also for 98 acres, part of a tract of 550 2-3 acres, the original quantity being 810 acres, No. 816, lying on the waters of the Little Miami, Green county, entered in the name of the said William Pierce, deceased, and in his name sold to William M'Farland, for the tax and penalty for the year 1804. Notice is therefore given to the aforesaid purchasers, Reuben Abrams, William Martin, Samuel M'Knight, John Barnes, Hugh M'Cullum, David Riddle, Stephen Wheeler, David Riddle, Nathaniel Willis, Abner Rude, William Renix and William M'Farland, their heirs or assigns, that the subscriber will proceed in person, or by his attorney, at the next court of common pleas, to be holden in the counties of Fayette and Highland, and at the next court of common pleas, in the county of Green, at the term of said court next succeeding the January term, 1812, and will then and there exhibit proof of the said William I. Pierce's right of redemption to the land's above mentioned, agreeably to the statue in such cases made and provided. JAMES TALOR, Agent for William L. Pierce. December 23, 1811. 169--6w
