Abstract
Article describes that two men from Tennessee passed through the area described by John C. Edwards and said that the account was fictitious.
Transcript
Two gentlemen, now in this city, who left Tennessee on the 4th instant, and travelled across the mountains, by Buncombe court-house, along French-Broad river, positively assert, that no volcano, as is related in the narrative of Mr. Edwards, had made its appearance in that quarter. Such a report prevailed; but it was generally discredited. No land had been overflown, nor had any damage been done by the supposed valcano. The above gentlemen live thirty-four miles from the warm springs, and twenty nine miles from the Painted rock. Evening Ledger.
