Report of earthquake at St. Bartholomew's, Caracas and the Spanish Main

DESTRUCTIVE EARTHQUAKE! Capt. PIERCE, of the brig Caroline, St. Batholomews, hail from St. Thomas's there learned that a most destructive EARTHQUAKE had extended itself over the Spanish Main. The houses in the town of Carracas and Laguria had been literally shaken to pieces, involving many of their inhabitants in the ruins. This dreadful calamity is said to have taken place on the 26th ult. intelligence of which was brought to St. Thomas's by a schooner which arrived from Caraccas the day before capt. P. failed This schr. had on board several prisoners, who had been confined in the prisons of Caraccas. From every part of the Province that intelligence had been received, its affects had been felt, and in many parts the earth had sunk. The shock which occasioned those disasters was also felt at St. Thomas's. [Times.
