Abstract
Felt report for the December 16, 1811 earthquake notes that it was widely felt and the various times it was felt. Place mentioned are Norfolk, Richmond, Charleston.
Transcript
We observe, in the papers, accounts of similar shocks of an earthquake to those experienced in this place on the 16th, having been felt in Norfolk, and in most of the towns along the sea board to Charleston. It is remarkable that about the 14th of the same month, in 1808 shocks of an earthquake were likewise felt here and elsewhere throughout the country. At Norfolk and Richmond in the late instance, the motion occured a few minutes earlier, in Charleston somewhat later, than at Raleigh. Its progress, therefore, if the statements be correct, was from north to south.
