Abstract
Report from the Raleigh Register stating that a gentleman from Tennessee had reported feeling the December 16, 1811 earthquake in the vicinity of the Piney river, notes chimneys were thrown down and a subsidence occurred on the Piney river Four other shocks were noted on the 17th of December. Others occurred on a daily basis until the 30th of December. Article also note an earthquake felt at Raleigh on an unknown date, but after the December 16, 1811 earthquake. Notes that it was felt “about 8 o'clock” in the morning with a duration of a few seconds.
