    Transcript

The Earthquakes witnessed along the Atlantic on the morning of the 16th ult. were also felt at St. Louis, in Upper Louisiana, about quarter past 2. The shocks were repeated through that and the next day. The most violent were the first, and one which took place at 8 in the same morning. These phenomina remarkably coincide as to time with what happened on the sea board; but the violence of the western far exceeded the others. At St. Louis, chimnies were thrown down and stone houses split.
