    Transcript

EARTHQUAKE. Another shock of an Earthquake was felt in this Town on Thursday morning last about 10 minutes past 9 o'clock, which continued from 20 to 30 seconds. We noticed that the atmosphere about that time was perfectly serene and unusually still, not a breath of air stirring. Those who felt the shock most severe, state, that they were seized with a giddiness and nausea, which so affected them that they were in the act of falling, and that the house appeared to be moving from its position. Several houses were severely shaken during this internal convulsion of the earth; and the glasses and pictures were seen to shake very much for at least 10 minutes afterward. A number of clocks and watches were stopped. The shock ran from west to east as near as could be ascertained.
