The following statement was handed us, by a gentleman in this city for publication in our last paper, but it having been mislaid, its publication could not take place all this day. James M'Farland and Daniel Carmichael left Tennessee on the 4th day of February instant. M'Farland lives in Green county, which adjoins Buncombe County, North Carolina. Carmichael lives in Jefferson County, which adjoins Buncombe County, North Carolina. Carmichael lives in Jefferson County, which adjoins Green county, about 34 miles from the warm spring, and 29 from the painted rock. On their way to Savannah, they came through Buncombe County, close to the Court house, and along French Broad River, and heard there the report at Buncombe (Court house) of a volcano having burst out in the mountains. But they do say no such Volcano has taken place, although a Mr. Edwards had written such was the fact. They came thro' the mountains in Tennessee, and positively state, that no such occurrence as a Volcano has taken place. JAMES M.FARLAND, DANIEL CARMICHAEL, Savannah, Feb. 19, 1812.
