MELANCHOLY INDEED Letters from Porto Rico of the 17th ult mentions the arrival there of many distressed inhabitants who have escaped from the late tremendous Earthquake.-They confirm the fate of Caraccas and Laguira; and add that Cumana, New Barceolona, Porto Cavallo, and Valencia were mostly destroyed; and that the inland town of St. Philip was entirely swallowed up.--New-York papers May 7.
