Abstract
Short note relaying that the information in item 962 is true and noting that the land from Cape Girardeau to the pass of St. Francis was cracked and impossible to get along. Many had to detour many miles to get around the damage. Good detailed short note.

The Little Prairie was a beautiful spot on the west side of the Mississippi river, at thirty miles from New-Madrid, and [unreadable] west of Nashville, one hundred [unreadable] eighty miles. It was well settled. The above account is confirmed by [unreadable] received from that county. A gentleman in attempting to pass from Cape Gireaden to the pass of St. Francis, [unreadable] the earth so much cracked and [unreadable] that it was impossible to get along. [unreadable] course must be about 50 miles back [unreadable] Little Prairie. Others have expected the same difficult in getting [unreadable] at times had to go miles out of the way to shun those chasms. We have no idea that the principal [unreadable] of the shocks originated on the Mississippi-we have not heard the worst.
