Abstract
Felt report for the January 23 1812 earthquake at Richmond, Virginia. Notes that it was felt with more force on Richmond and Shokoe hills than in low lying areas. Notes the same effect for the December 16, 1811 earthquake. Notes that books were thrown from shelves and that numbers of people left their breakfast tables hastily.
Transcript
RICHMOND, January 23. ANOTHER EARTHQUAKE. About half after 9 o'clock this morning, a severe shock of an EARTHQUAKE was felt in this city. Like the last, it was more sensibly felt on Shockoe and Richmond Hills than in the lower parts of the city. In some instances books were nearly thrown from the shelves-and numbers who were at breakfast at the time precipitately left the tables.
