Description

Bone was incorporated into a variety of complex tools, like this digging tool which consists of a deer scapula (shoulder blade) lashed to a wooden handle. Many, if not most, of the tools used in the daily life of the ancient residents of Chucalissa would have been made of organic materials like wood and cane, but unfortunately these materials generally do not survive for modern archaeologists to find and we must rely instead on what we can learn from the more durable objects that have survived.
