Description
The natural cane, used to make baskets, could be dyed using pigments sourced from locally-growing fauna. For example, studying ancient, carbonized pollen and plant remains (including fragments of cane fiber) indicates that plants like goldenrod and sumac fruit could be used to dye the cane fiber yellow and red.
