Description
Baskets were one of the most important objects in the daily lives of the ancient inhabitants of sites like Chucalissa. Unfortunately, because baskets were made from organic material like cane, very few ancient examples have survived intact for archaeologists to uncover. Those few examples that we do have are very fragmentary, for example these basket fragments which were burned at some point, the likely unintentional process of firing serving to preserve the objects over time.
