Abstract

This video shows and narrates the process of pottery making that is present in most indigenous tribes. It shows a Choctaw man at Chucalissa in 1960 making a jar from start to finish, beginning with digging for the clay in a riverbank and ending with dipping he fired product in lard to glaze it. The method he uses, which was very popular among the residence of Chucalissa, is called coiling.
