Abstract
A full-length work of fiction in the novel form, the story begins with Caden Carlisle, 20, as he kidnaps his sister, Mira, 15, liberating her from the abusive household of their drug-addled parents. With hopes of finding an older half-brother, Rob, the two seek refuge in New Orleans. At first, Rob's whereabouts remain unknown to Caden, so he must struggle to care for Mira, ultimately finding work in a record store. As Caden eventually narrows in on where his brother has been living, he discovers an underground world of crime and violence reminiscent of the life he had escaped.
