Abstract
The human value of unification has been lost and there is a need for a society that unifies people from different cultures, attitudes, and religions. This thesis responds to the idea that fostering unity creates a community for humanity, based on the ideals of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. The thesis explores how design can create “moments of pause” for people to contemplate and consider others. Throughout the design, metaphor is used as a way to connect souls in a common poetic language and create an emotional bond between people. The design process of this thesis demonstrates that the key to such design is through an intuitive and evocative thinking process.
