Abstract
Bite Radius is a post-apocalyptic genre novel. At approximately 200 pages, the novel focuses on Ella, a young adult who, following the loss of her mother, has been surviving in a zombie apocalypse scenario in a self-imposed isolation. Dwindling resources force her to leave her "home," during which she encounters a fellow survivor named Sanjay. She begrudgingly agrees to travel with him as they pursue their respective destinations. The novel is focused on Ella's determination to rely only on herself, and how that conflicts with Sanjay's desire to fulfill his self-identification as a protector figure. The novel also will attempt to explore philosophies surrounding death and identity, and to challenge the traditional use of the zombie trope by focusing on the humanity of those who have been "turned."
