Abstract
One of the largest users of transportation systems in the United States is the agriculture industry. The transportation networks and infrastructure play a vital role in food and distribution of agricultural commodities from farms to the final destinations. The growing population, increasing needs for agricultural products, and the competitive global market for agriculture products and food and related industries require delicate transportation network planning in order to move through the inland networks to the ports and deliver to the international markets via the international waterways. In this study, the challenges of transporting agricultural products are examined, and the possible strategies, based on literature, are suggested.
