Abstract

Through my journey in this world, as a Black man, my lineage is layered with cultures. I have learned to navigate the prescribed teachings about what being an artist or artisan is, and what the work created should be or means globally. In being a so called "spook that sat by the door", my understanding has allowed me to subvert the culture and structure that deems what and who has value. Using art, as it is a neutral element that is embedded into the fabric of the land and the culture of all peoples. I have found that the fibers of my esoteric culture were the answers to my own personal evolution as a man and a creative seeking to add to the representation and the dialogue of the African Diaspora.
