Introduction: Multimodal Genres in Higher Education
Abstract
This chapter introduces readers to the edited volume Multimodal Practices in Higher Education: Analyzing and Teaching Diverse Genres. The chapter opens with a brief discussion of the current place of multimodality in applied linguistics and education, before turning to the increasingly important role that multimodal genres play in the day-to-day happenings of people’s academic and professional lives. Readers are then introduced to the aims of the volume, including the target audience and the organizational structure of this book. The chapter closes with a brief overview of the various topics that are covered.
