Exploitation of dielectric properties of ferrite composites for microwave absorber applications: complex permittivity, real-imaginary impedance, geometrical thickness, and reflection loss parameters
Abstract
The composites of (BaSr)0.5(CoRu)xFe(12–2x)O19 ferrite and Polyaniline (PANI) were prepared. The microwave absorbance of prepared hexaferrite-PANI composites was been investigated in the frequency range from 8 to 12 GHz (X-band). The electrical conducting nature of PANI favors complex permittivity properties over complex permeability parameters and affects the polarization/magnetic connectivity in the ferrites. The height of absorption dips varies with frequency and thickness of composition. The absorbing behavior exhibited in the composites was enumerated by considering real/imaginary impedance components and the quarter wavelength cancellation model. The increase in thickness of composition caused a shift of absorption peaks towards lower frequencies. For 3.9 mm thickness, Co2+-Ru4+ stems good absorber characteristics in sample A [(BaSr)0.5(CoRu)0.2Fe11.6O19/30% PANI] composition with optimal reflection loss = −47.53 dB at 9.88 GHz. The same composition owes a bandwidth to thickness ratio of 0.44, and a percentage bandwidth of 18.3. −10 dB absorption bandwidth is more than 1.5 GHz in sample A, sample B [(BaSr)0.5(CoRu)0.4Fe11.2O19/30% PANI], and sample C [(BaSr)0.5(CoRu)0.6Fe10.8O19/30% PANI]. The obtained results comply with microwave suppressor/absorber applications of prepared composites.
