Sampling

Abstract

A sample is a subset of elements within a total population of interest to a researcher. Samples are used in research to draw conclusions about the population, without the expense, time and resources required to study the entire population. In order to be effective, sampling procedures that help to ensure that the sample is representative of the population must be used.
