Corrigendum to: Chirality without Stereoisomers: Insight from the Helical Response of Bond Electrons (ChemPhysChem, (2021), 22, 19, (1989-1995), 10.1002/cphc.202100397)
Abstract
The erroneous association of a (small) difference in the chirality-helicity function with an energetic preference led to inclusion of the following two wrong statements in the manuscript: “Therefore, this indicates that for both the reactant and product larger Chelicity values correspond to the most preferred stereoisomer.” (at the end of the second paragraph in the left column on page 1993). “In addition, for the chiral SN2 reaction stereoisomers of the reactant and product possess larger Chelicity values corresponding in each case to the most energetically preferred stereoisomer.” at the end of the first paragraph of the conclusions (right column on page 1993). Statements 1 and 2 should be disregarded altogether, as stereoisomers do not differ in energy. Our findings are correctly described as follows (instead of statement 2): “In addition, the differences in Chelicity values for the chiral SN2 reaction stereoisomers of the reactant and product are insignificant and consequently there is not a preferred stereoisomer.” The authors apologize for this oversight.
