Case study of customer fulfillment time
Abstract
The business world is moving increasing fast, and the need to respond to the customer quickly, is becoming increasingly important. This is often measured as customer fulfillment time, the time from when a customer places an order until it is received. This paper is a simulation study of customer fulfillment time of US customers, for an international company based in Europe. Current fulfillment times are lengthy since the focus has been on minimizing shipping and inventory costs. Computer simulation is utilized to evaluate various scenarios for reducing fulfillment time. Results show significant reductions in fulfillment times are possible.
